It’s completely understandable that Gareth Bale would want to participate in the Olympics. But his wearing the Union Jack – and so far being the only Premier League player to be seen in a “Team GB” shirt – is not going down well with the Welsh FA, and is likely to also piss off supporters of the national team. I wonder if he’s entirely thought this situation through. On a tangential note, I can’t look at the image of Britannia without thinking of Peter Gabriel in fancy dress!
